Employee spotlight: How senior enroller Ali Johnson found purpose working with patients and caregivers

At Cadence, we believe that a better quality of life begins with better care. No matter what role at the company, our team is on a mission to give everyone consistent, proactive healthcare every day. In our Employee Perspectives series, you will hear how different Cadence team members are meeting the company's mission and why they are passionate about their work.

This week, Senior Enroller Ali Johnson discusses her work on the Care Delivery team. If you’re interested in learning more about Cadence and current job opportunities, check out our careers page to learn more.

1. Tell us a little bit about what you do here at Cadence. What are your core responsibilities?

My current focus is on outbound outreach, calling new patients to introduce them to our programs and get them excited about starting with Cadence. My main responsibility is scheduling patients to enroll in Cadence and more recently, supporting patient onboarding by offering a virtual enrollment option.

2. What gets you most excited about your job at Cadence and about the company at large?

I love learning and value growth opportunities. As a startup, Cadence offers so many opportunities to evolve and grow both personally and professionally. It's so satisfying to be able to help serve our patients, and I enjoy working with and learning from a group of strong leaders on this team.

3. You build important connections with our patients each day as you introduce them to Cadence. Why are patients interested in participating in remote patient monitoring?

Many patients are new to the idea of remote patient monitoring and can be intimidated by the technology. However, they like the idea of being able to better support themselves and providing peace of mind to their loved ones, as well as being able to help their providers better manage their chronic conditions by having a second set of eyes at home who is always monitoring and watching over their health.

4. Have you had any experiences with caregivers to date that stand out? Why are they exciting about Cadence?

I speak with caregivers frequently, often the children or relatives of a patient and someone who is responsible for taking care of their loved one. Knowing that their family member's vital readings are being monitored while their loved one is at home brings an immense sense of relief and peace of mind, especially when the patient has a history of hospitalizations.

5. At Cadence, employees are trusted with autonomy to make decisions and have a big impact on the company. How have you navigated the company’s flat organizational  structure and found ways to continue to grow professionally?

I've had the opportunity to wear a number of hats here at Cadence. I started with in-person enrollment. I have traveled to support the launch of multiple clinics. Now, I am working remotely with a new team on patient outreach. Stagnancy is my kryptonite, and at  Cadence, I never have to worry about that. There are so many new projects that we are launching at all times. By being willing to show up and roll up my sleeves and do the work, I have been able to contribute in ways that feel purposeful and satisfying.

6. For anyone who's considering joining Cadence, in particular those in enrollment or virtual enrollment roles, what would you tell them about based on your experience?

Working at Cadence is a major challenge and yet so rewarding. I personally value adventure, spontaneity, creativity, growth, and fun, and feel grateful that my position here at Cadence aligns with these values.
